"Region" is nowadays one of the most frequented term in the discourse of the humanities. In the approach of the History, the region is used as a theoretical and methodological concept, whose content has wide range in other social sciences, such as Human Geography and Sociology. This thesis deals with the possibility of the utilization of this term in the historical research applicated on the particular case of the Bohemian- Moravian Highlands. Thesis describes the recent state of the research and the progress in the approach to the term of region. The main concepts which can be used in the case of the Highlands are also shown and described. This particular region was chosen because of its specificity - it's a central periphery, which formed itself into a centralized and institutionalized modern region, the Vysočina Region, during the 20th century. The basic way-out is Anssi Paasi's theory of the shaping of regions. According to it, region can be found in many dimensions in the process of its creation - not just in a physical shape, but also in a symbolic shape, in the making of its identity. Eventually, region has got variable social and economic characteristics. The meaning in which region is percepted and imagined is also changed by these processes of creation - the role of the region is changing...

The first was an analysis of the processes shaping regional identity particularly of the study area of Neveklovsko and the identification of the inner potential in the region from the socio-economic and sociocultural aspects. The second aim was to identify the differences in the various areas of Czech region, specifically the high concentration of settlements with a predominately tourist and recreational function, where the research was conducted within the grant project. The research was carried out on using a field survey and questionnaire. The Neveklovsko area is an example of a rural area of the inner periphery containing a high concentration of settlements with the predominating tourist and recreational function. The Second World War played an important role in shaping regional identity, particularly because of forced displacements and its use as a training ground of the SS. Taičmanová, Pavla ; Perlín, Radim (advisor) ; Maříková, Pavlína (referee)
The present thesis deals with the influence of human resources for the development potential of selected villages situated in the area of inner periphery of the Vysocina Region. Within the scope of polarized geographical space areas with varying degrees of stability and potential for development can be identified, where endogenous development opportunities can be considered as crucial factors- in particular the level of human resources. The present thesis monitors the quality of human and social capital on the example of three villages, using the combination of quantitative and qualitative research methods. The capitalization rate and utilization of human resources is evaluated mainly in terms of involvement of local partakers/participants, their levels of cooperation and participation of the population in public life. The aim is to find out how human resources in the surveyed municipalities affect their development in the future.

Many changes took place also with river Vltava regulations. During last 25 years the capital city is being modernized. This modernization is connected with additional changes in peripheries: old and unused factories are demolished and new buildings are built on their places or they are converted for other purposes. The thesis deals with the analysis of the social networks of actors of public, non-profit and private sectors active within the inner periphery, which is located in the border area of central, west and south Bohemia. The objective of the thesis is to try to identify and characterize social networks of actors active in the area of interest and acquire knowledge about the complexity, density and overall organization of these networks. The main research questions of the thesis include evaluation of the complexity of the identified social networks, characterization of frequency of collaboration between the actors in networks, or assess the influence of the actors within the area of interest from their perspective. The effort is also to compare the analyzed results of these networks within three individual parts of the area of interest. The role of soft factors in the development of the inner periphery of the Eastern Bohemia
Komárek, Marek
The role of soft factors in the development of the inner periphery of the Eastern Bohemia Abstract In recent years, research on conditionality process of space polarization and regional development puts emphasis on understanding importance of endogenous and "soft" factors. General theories of regional development (formed mainly on the basis of evaluating "hard" data) are verified by frequent case studies because of their limited explanatory power. In these case studies, especially qualitative approaches of evaluation are applied. Influence and validity of "soft" factors significantly increases with decreasing hierarchical level, so it is desirable to conduct empirical research at the municipal level. Diploma thesis aims to analyze "soft" factors of regional development and understand the nature of differences in socio-economic development at the municipal level in the inner periphery of Bohemia. The concept of the institutional thickness has become the theoretical basis. This concept has logical overlap to the concept of the social capital. The objects of research are the spatial co-operation of actors of regional development (mayors), their reciprocal trust and engagement in local activities. Thesis aims to identify and to explain the nature of relations, direction of interactions and impact of political...

Migration flows in Czech rural area since the 1990s: the analysis of structure and development
Zalubil, Jakub ; Netrdová, Pavlína (advisor) ; Čermák, Zdeněk (referee)
1 Abstract The submitted diploma thesis evaluates the migration movements of the population in the rural area of the Czech Republic in the period 1992 and 2018. The aim of the work is to evaluate the modern development of internal migration of rural settlements in terms of the size of migration flows and to determine the main migration directions to and from the Czech countryside. The evaluation of the size and structure of migration flows was based on the analysis of data from a non-public database on internal migration, which contains almost six million cases of intra-state migration for the given period. These data were first aggregated on the basis of the affiliation of the municipality of eviction and the municipality of immigration to rural areas of the administrative districts of municipalities with an authorized municipal office. The results, which are presented in graphical and map form, show that the countryside is gaining population through internal migration. The results of the analysis showed that the situation is very diversed. The highest rates of migration indicators are reported by defined rural administrative districts of municipalities with an authorized municipal office in the vicinity of large cities, primarily Prague, and the lowest in border areas. Based on the performed analyses of...
